Absolute Outdoors is the new trading name for Grampians Adventure Services Pty Ltd created due to our ever expanding geographical range and growing list of experiences!!!

Since 1989 Absolute Outdoors Australia (formally GAS) has been providing quality outdoor experiences to people and various groups from all over the world. The wonderful picturesque regions in which we operate provide the perfect locations for a wide range of unique multi-award winning ecologically sustainable outdoor activities.

Supported by the latest outdoor equipment, all activities are facilitated by highly trained and fully qualified guides. A wealth of knowledge and experience in delivering high quality activities ensures all our participants will have the opportunity to safely discover unique environments whilst exploring their own abilities and perceptions. An uncompromising commitment to customers is enforced by our guides’ dedication to deliver that ‘once in a life time experience’ to all participants no matter what their age or skill level.

As market leaders, we strive to set industry benchmarks that include a strict adherence to all codes of safety as well as a total awareness to the sensitivity of the environment we operate within. Our commitment to the industry has led to the development of strong relationships with numerous organisations including the Grampians Marketing Incorporated, Tourism Victoria Alliance, Shipwreck Coast Tourism Association and many others. Links with Parks Victoria and Coast Action CoastCare emphasise our environmental focus. Affiliations with Vic Health, Play it Safe by the water and the Australian Sports Commission highlight our dedication to participant well being. We have also achieved our Better Business Accreditation.

With a policy of continual improvement customers are assured they can engage in exciting personalised experiences tailored to their specific needs. Attention to detail has enabled us to enter and win several awards. This includes winning the 2005 Grampians Pyrenees Tourism Business of the year for the third consecutive time, as well as the Grampians Pyrenees Award of Merit for Environmental Contribution and Sustainability. For the second time the company also won the Grampians Pyrenees Overall Business of the Year.

With a wide range of activities that include rock climbing, abseiling, surfing, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, night spotlight walks, environmental walks & combination activity days. Absolute Outdoors will always deliver exciting, responsible and safe outdoor activities. Through our customer focus and achievements new and returning customers have come to recognise and trust Absolute Outdoors Australia as one of Australia's leading adventure companies.

In 1989 Grampians Adventure Services Pty Ltd (GAS) was established by an entrepreneurial group of individuals that believed that others were missing out on the wonderful experiences and opportunities they had in their own backyard. The company began leading winery and cycle tours which in time led to an expansion into the renowned Grampians National Park, where various other activities such as rock climbing and abseiling were developed. Regular white water canoeing trips to other areas in Victoria led to an expansion into various canoeing activities while continuing to explore and conduct guided nature walks, which was now a major part of the business.

School groups quickly became a focus for the business which allowed for the development of new and innovative activities for various ages and skill levels. GAS continued to progress adding further activities to its repertoire over the coming years including the development of personalised tours and activities for visitors to the Grampians and other regions of Victoria, programming for a number of local camps and providing its first corporate packages to clients.

While working hard to improve its activities GAS worked closely with community groups and individuals to ensure these new experiences were available to everyone. This led to new cost effective activities focused on families and individuals, which aimed to allow people who couldn't previously do the often high priced activities within the industry to do so. GAS continued to work in the South West for a number of years, travelling from its now well established shop front in Halls Gap. A second store was then established on the Discovery Coast in Portland. This new base allowed for the development of new activities such as sea kayaking as well as providing a platform for continued guided walks along the famous Great South West Walk. GAS then acquired Easyrider Surf School which further increased the now award winning services GAS was providing and increased the companies range into the Great Ocean Road.

A name change was the next step, largely due to GAS's ever expanding range (although the Grampians are still a major focus). Absolute Outdoors Australia was born and will continue to improve its service to customers both through the provision of various quality experiences (there not just activities now!) and through the sale of the best outdoor equipment available. We will continue to strive forward in all areas of our operations, remaining a market leader in the delivery and development of outdoor experiences. Although we have changed our name and transformed from a small company to a multi-award winning organisation over the past two decades we still remain close to GAS's humble origins by continuing to provide personalised experiences and opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.
