Frequently Asked Questions

Listed below are some questions we are frequently asked.  As more FAQ’s arise we will add them to this list to ensure you are kept well informed.  If you have any further questions please contact us.

Are you open all year?
Yes we operate all year round except for Christmas Day, however during busy times we may be booked out, so make your bookings early.

Do I need to make a booking?
We recommend you make a booking as early as possible.  We cater for a wide range of customers including schools and corporate groups, booking in advance is advised to avoid disappointment.
 
How long have you been in operation?
We have been operating since 1989, when Grampians Adventure Services Pty Ltd was first established.  GAS recently began trading as Absolute Outdoors Australia due to our ever expanding geographical range and growing list of experiences.

Do you have insurance?
Absolute Outdoors prides itself on providing high quality experiences in a safe and welcoming environment.  So yes, we do have full public liability and professional indemnity insurance for all our services.  We also ensure that our services are registered with all appropriate landholders including Parks Victoria and associated local councils, adhering to all their codes of practice.

What if I cancel or cannot make it on the day that I booked?
We understand that problems can arise and in many cases they occur without notice and exactly when you don’t want them too!!!  We ask that you let us know as soon as possible, so we can arrange a different time or location.  As a general rule (aside from a disaster) we require you let us know of your cancellation at least 24 hours prior to the start of your session.  Failing to let us know of your cancellation or cancellation within 24 hours of your session may result in the loss of 50% or all of your deposit or monies paid.

What happens in the event of inclement weather?
Unfortunately we can’t control the weather and Mother Nature can often have other ideas than the perfect weather for our planned outing.  If this does occur we will first try and arrange another time or location for your experience.  However if this is not an option a 100% refund will be made on the purchase price.

Do you have experience in dealing with groups with special needs?
Yes, our team has had extensive experience and training in delivering services to groups with special needs.  This includes groups with youth at risk, disabilities, medical conditions, etc.  We can tailor a program or session to suite your specific requirements, right down to details such as dietary requirements and guide ratios.

I have a large group can you cater for us?
Whether your group is large or small, one or two we can definitely cater for all your needs; with a program, accommodation and all your meals and equipment supplied.

What qualifications do your guides have?
The team at Absolute Outdoors has all the relevant qualifications for the services on offer.  These include Nationally Recognised Training by the appropriate Registered Training Organisations.   Further training also includes rescue, lifesaving, first aid and advanced resuscitation certification.  A number of employees also have degrees and/or diplomas in leadership, recreation, facilitation, environmental science & management, nature tourism and customer service management.  We pride ourselves on the delivery of a high quality service, thus all employees have relevant experience and expertise in delivering our services, which adhere to the relevant Adventure Activity Standards and codes of practice and conduct. 

Can you organise accommodation?
Yes, Absolute Outdoors can organise your total holiday or program package.  We can book a range of accommodation, transport to and from venues, offer discounted meals and have access to a range of other local services including massage, diving, charters, tours and discounted local wines.  If you would like regular information regarding discounts, etc. contact us to ask about joining our loyalty club.

What do I need to bring?
All the specific equipment needed to complete your experience is provided by Absolute Outdoors.  As a general rule you should always bring appropriate clothing for the weather, wear sturdy footwear suitable for the environment you’re entering, a drink bottle filled with water and sunscreen.  If there are any other requirements we will let you know prior to your session.

I don't want to use Paypal, do you have alternative payment methods?
We use Paypal's payment facilities as it is the most cost effective way for us to process your credit card payments, this means we can pass the savings onto you our customer.  We also choose to use Paypal so we do not have to store your credit card details on our server, which provides you with a much greater level of security.  If you do not want to use Paypal please contact us or visit this page to view details of our payment methods.
